Autumn Term 2014

Year 12 and 13

Welcome to the new term.

Year 13

You should be well on the way to completing all your research for your music video. Next week we should start the planning so that you can begin filming over half term. The more you do before Christmas, the easier it will be for you.

Year 12

You should have completed your continuity sequence and should now upload it onto youtube so that you can post it onto your blog. You should also provide a set of posts, with photos, explaining what you did, how you did it and what you learnt. Don't forget to mention the 180 degree rule, match on action and the shot reverse shot edits and how they worked.

Keep checking the department blog weekly, so that you know what you need to do and what homework needs completing.

YEAR 12 Evaluation Questions - Marking

YEAR 12

The following has not posted any evaluation questions :

RYAN POWELL

The following have not completed all seven questions :

LAUREN SPROUL
JADE MORGAN
ETHAN JAMES

The following need to redo all or some of the questions, using the various technologies available. At the very least pictures/logos/clips/screen shots should be added.

LIAM BOWEN - Q2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 all need redoing. There is not enough here for a pass.
LEWIS SMITH -  Q4 - too brief. Q5,6,7 - need pics, logos etc. Q7 - use clips/screenshots (not the whole thing)
JACOB CHARLES - all need re-presenting, using 'technologies'
HARRY LOCK - all need redoing in more detail to gain a pass.
DANIEL PAIN - all need revising. Q1 - add pictures etc. Q2 - 7  - not enough detail.

Minor adjustments :

CONNOR REES - change green font style and colour. Needs to be much clearer (look at how much easier to read your labels are)

YEAR 13 Evaluation Questions : Marking

The following have not posted any evaluation questions :

LEWIS GORE
KARL DEACY
GARRYN JONES

The following need to improve responses by adding 'technologies' - simply presenting a question using just text is not enough. You should be making full use of all the options available. At the very least, each response should have pictures.

TOM DANIEL - Q4
JAMES MORGAN - Q1, Q4
HARRY PRIOR - Q3
BEN WARMAN - all questions need redoing.

YEAR 13 : Collective Identity of the Welsh Essay

Year 13

Homework Essay Title :

By Friday 28th March - Write the introduction and a detailed plan that you could discuss in the lesson. Essay to be written in full by Mon 30th March.

What are the social implications of different media representations of groups of people?

What is the significance on society when different media construct the Welsh in different ways?

This links in with Q.1 Think about who consumes the media texts we have studied e.g. the audience of the films. What do they do with it? Do they use the texts to help form their own identity and become part of that collective group. Or, if outside the ‘collective group’, do they use it to form their own opinions of that collective group?

Look back over the articles you were given on stereotyping the Welsh.
How have the Welsh as a ‘collective group’ been stereotyped by the media?
How does the collective identity of the Welsh help us to feel 'Welsh' and if not Welsh how does it inform others opinions of the Welsh ?
Consider these questions and using at least one quotation from a theorist, write an introduction that would be suitable for this essay.

Now write a detailed plan in which you consider the impact on society of representing the Welsh in a certain way.
Think about : The Welsh as being different from the English  and the reinforcing of barriers.
The working class image of the Welsh
The negative image created by the media etc.
You should come up with at least 5 points with plenty of examples from film and TV and a conclusion. It is essential you refer to at least 3 theorists.
